Humanist Therapy is a more direct and practical form of Psychotherapy. Our Therapists are constantly growing and working on ourselves so that we meet you as fellow humans rather than as an at-a-distance professional who is prescribing you treatment and approaches as if they know you.
What this means is that we ask you questions from a place of curiosity and help you guide yourself to deeper self-awareness and greater day-to-day ease.
What a typical session looks like
We are integrative, meaning we draw on the things that work from all major therapy approaches. We get creative in session. We use Socratic Dialogue to ask you questions that lead you to discover your own answers to what you are struggling with. We will also bring in somatic (body) work, leaning into exercises that give you a chance to express the blocked emotion that is living inside of you, like anger, hurt and sadness.
Yes, this is our job, but we show up because we come to believe in you and your story. We share parts of our stories and journeys so you can see, both that you are not alone and to get a sense of things we have done as we continue to grow beside you.
The path to happiness isn’t positive thinking, it's about exploring the things that we would otherwise avoid or try to forget.
